very short on words long on pictures or images as some like to call them , i guess its for the best as i have a caustic sense of wit , and enjoy a brutal joke at others expense , crude puns are another forte of mine

If this is the bike I think it is, this little gem had a twelve/thirteen year career. I think this one had a 3rd. place on the Island in '63 and I think she was retired in '66/'67. I am also led to believe the MV club made some disparaging remarks about the 'patina' encouraging the owner to 'tidy it up'! I am bound by decency not to publish the response!!
ReplyDeleteI also believe this is one of only four, this having a magnesium engine.
DeleteIt is also possibly one of the loudest bikes I've ever heard!
I have a christmas card from Mole featuring this 203 wearing her 'Dustbin fairing' by a roaring fire in his living room, with the caption:
Delete"Christmas with the one you love"...

This belonged to a friend and mentor of mine, the late 'Mole' Benn.
ReplyDeleteI can confirm your anecdote regarding the M.V. club's actions when this bike was on display at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Mole went for a cup of tea to find this super little bike had been moved to the back of the MV tent... Yes, Mole was quite cutting in his response...
